Acrylic paint on Aluminium Sheets
Melissa is a London-based British artist focusing on 2D image making, recently having graduated in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. She paints to portray an emotion through a visual sense. typically using colour as a means to control the energy and direct the eye. Her works pay tribute to the research conducted in the field of psychology linking colour to the release of positive endorphins in the human mind.
Enclose was created during lockdown. Being enclosed within the space of my home, I wanted to express this through painting. Using these three sheets of aluminium I wanted to create shapes that would be limited in each rectangle, but transition onto the next, joining each sheet together to create a uniformed piece of work. The idea of resilience is shown by the reflective colour projecting behind the surface of the painting, showing that even though I was enclosed whilst painting this artwork there is hope of freedom in these tough times.
